Our commitment

Crunch is committed to the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, eliminating and making a stand against offences of “slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour” and human trafficking.

Crunch is proud to have been an accredited Brighton Living Wage employer since 2017. The Living Wage is independently calculated according to the basic cost of living in the UK and considers the amount that allows a person to live, rather than just survive.

Crunch is not directly at risk of Modern Slavery, but we acknowledge that some of the partners in our supply chain may carry a risk and the necessary steps are in place to mitigate this risk.

Our business activities and relationships

We value the quality of our business relationships with our clients, suppliers and partners based in the UK or abroad and have no evidence that any modern slavery or human trafficking has taken place in our supply chain. We’ve started the process to include obligations to comply with labour standards into our third party supplier contracts.

In the event that any such activity is suspected or found to have taken place by existing suppliers and partners, swift action will be taken as part of our contingency planning processes in the event that a client, supplier or partner is found to fall below the standards we expect.

Our supply chain

Our supply chain consists of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud storage service provider and Google Cloud, and other SaaS companies who act as service providers to us such as SalesForce and FinancialForce.

We also work with partners who provide technology and accountancy services to us and we seek confirmation from these suppliers that their businesses and supply chains are free from slavery.

In addition, there are other third parties who we engage with to provide physical goods and services to us at our current base office location, including contract cleaners for example, and we have the same expectations as we do with other aspects of our supply chain as outlined above.

Our policies and actions

We have company policies for our employees and workers that encompass associated topics including our code of conduct, whistleblowing, recruitment and selection and equality, diversity and inclusion.

The ACCA Code of Ethics and Conduct (the Code) is also binding on Directors of Crunch Accounting Ltd as well as employees and workers who are members or students of the ACCA.

Our company culture and values are reflected in the actions that we take as a team every day:

  • We promote an open and respectful working environment;

  • Our working practices encourage our team to have the integrity to speak up if something isn’t right, providing a safe platform for them to do so;

  • Simplicity is at the core of our activities - with clear and accessible training for the whole team to complete annually on our ‘Essentials’ topics. Raising awareness ensures our team remain knowledgeable and are able to spot red flags if needed;

  • We create a supportive network, with third party services available outside of the workplace should any member of our team need confidential advice at any time.

Crunch is embarking on the process of training and raising awareness within our team on how to identify the signs of modern slavery or human trafficking, or who may actually be a victim of modern slavery themselves, and to immediately report any concerns to our Board of Directors via our Company Secretary. The Modern Slavery Helpline on 0800 0121 700 is also available to raise concerns anonymously.

Crunch will also conduct an annual risk assessment on modern slavery and outline appropriate controls that are required to be put in place to mitigate any risk identified. Crunch has also appointed a member of our senior Leadership Team to lead on our commitment to compliance with the Modern Slavery Act.

The Crunch Modern Slavery Statement was last reviewed and approved by our Leadership Team in October 2022 and this version is in place until any further amendments are required.

The document will be reviewed  annually  and any changes updated as appropriate. It will be published on the Crunch website and our internal Intranet from April 2021.
