If the Medical Insurance is under the company name the company does get tax relief, however, the director would be liable for personal tax as it would be seen as a benefit in kind and would need to be declared on a P11D form.
Unless there is an advantage for using a company scheme ie. there were a number of people under the scheme and therefore gaining a group discount it would be better having it as a personal policy under the director's name.
If you wish to record this expense in Crunch, remember to select the expense type 'Employee Costs > Medical Insurance Contributions'.
If you are claiming for medical insurance whilst working abroad the expense should be entered as 'Employee costs > Staff Welfare'.
